Tansen Mission Hospital is located 300 km west of Kathmandu in Palpa District. Approximately 70% of its patients come from the surrounding nine districts, Western Nepal, and from nearby parts of North India. It provides crucial medical, surgical, obstetrical and pediatric care for the underprivileged population of the region.
In addition to facilitating volunteering opportunities for allied health workers (doctors, nurses, dentists, etc.) to help out the dedicated staff, Avicenna Vision is actively raising funds to improve the quality and the breadth of care provided by Tansen Mission Hospital (UMTH).
Currently Avicenna Vision is securing funds for the purchase of a cardiac monitor to be placed in the Emergency Room at UMTH that cared for over 11,400 patient visits in 2009.
